Redirect a page or domain
A redirect sends visitors, and search engines, from one address to another. Use one when you move or rename a page, or to send an old domain to your current site.
Add a redirect
Section titled “Add a redirect”-
Sign in to the control panel, open Websites and select the website.
-
Select Advanced in the website’s navigation bar, then Redirects, then Add redirect.
-
Choose the Status marker 1:
- 301 for a permanent move. Search engines move the old page’s ranking to the new address. Use this in almost every case.
- 302 for a temporary redirect, for example while a page is being worked on.
-
Under Domain marker 2, choose which of the website’s domains the redirect applies to, or All domains.
-
In Slug marker 3, enter the old path after the
/, such asold-pageforexample.com/old-page. Leave it empty to redirect the whole domain. -
Under Destination URL marker 4, choose
https://and enter where visitors should go, such asexample.com/new-page. -
Select Add marker 5.
The redirect is listed on the Redirects page. Its menu button (three dots) has Edit and Delete.
If a redirect would send visitors back to the address they came from, the panel warns about a Redirect loop before adding it. Select Cancel and check the domain, slug and destination.
Redirect a whole domain
Section titled “Redirect a whole domain”To send every visitor of an old domain to your main site:
- If the old domain is not on any of your websites yet, the quickest way is to add it as an alias of the main website and tick Redirect to the primary domain.
- If it is already an alias, add a redirect with that domain under Domain, an empty Slug, and your main site’s address as the destination.
