Add a website

Each website on your plan has its own files, databases, PHP settings and backups, and runs separately from your other sites.

The Add website page. Marker 1 is above the three ways to start: Start from scratch, Install an app and Clone a website. Marker 2 is beside the Domain field and marker 3 above the Add button.
  1. Sign in to the control panel and select Add website on Home, or open Websites and select Add website.

  2. Choose how to start marker 1:

    • Start from scratch creates an empty website for you to upload your own files to.
    • Install an app creates the website with WordPress already installed. See Install WordPress.
    • Clone a website makes a copy of one of your existing websites. See Copy an existing website.
  3. Enter the website’s domain in Domain marker 2, for example example.com. Leave out www.: the website answers on both.

  4. Select Add marker 3.

The website’s overview opens. While the domain does not point to Sheernox yet, the overview shows the nameservers to set at your domain provider.

A new website appears at its domain only once the domain points to Sheernox. If you registered the domain with Sheernox together with your hosting, this is already done. Otherwise, follow Point your domain to Sheernox.

Until then you can still upload files and build the site.

Clone a website makes a copy of one of your websites under a new domain. Use it to make a test copy before a big change, or to start a new site from an existing one.

  1. Select Add website, then Clone a website.

  2. Enter the new website’s domain in Domain.

  3. Under Select a website to clone, choose the website to copy.

  4. If the website runs WordPress, leave Perform a WordPress search and replace selected so the copy uses its new domain instead of the old one.

  5. Select Add.

You can also start a copy from a website’s overview: in Quick links, select Clone, then To a new website.

The Delete website confirmation. It says the website and all associated email accounts will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered, with Cancel and Delete buttons.
  1. Open Websites and select the website.

  2. On the website’s overview, select the menu button (three dots) beside the website’s name, then Delete.

  3. Read the confirmation and select Delete.
