Search for a domain

The search on the Sheernox domains page checks a name across the most popular extensions at once and shows the yearly price of each. From the results you can register a free name, see who holds a taken one, or start a transfer of a name you already own.

  1. Go to the domains page.

  2. Type the name you want, with or without an extension, such as mybrand or mybrand.ca, and start the search. If you type an extension, it is checked first.

  3. Read the results under the search box. Each extension shows whether the name is free, taken or a premium name, with its yearly price.

The prices follow the currency chosen in the site header, so you can switch between CAD, USD and EUR.

Result What you can do
Available Select Register to order it in the client portal. See Register a domain.
Taken Someone already holds the name. If it is yours at another registrar, select Transfer. See Transfer a domain to Sheernox.
Registered with Sheernox The name is already registered through Sheernox. If it is yours, manage it in the client portal.
Premium Name The registry charges more than the usual price for this name. See Premium names.
Could not check The check did not complete. Search again in a moment.

When the name you searched is taken, open WHOIS record to see its registrar, registration and expiry dates, and status.

The results also suggest name ideas: similar names that are free. Select one to register it.

Some registries keep short, common or popular names aside as premium and set their own, higher price for them. A premium name is not sold at the extension’s listed price, so the search shows a Premium Name label and a Contact Us link instead of Register.

Select Contact Us to open a support ticket, include the full name you want, and the team replies with a quote. Name ideas never include premium names.

The search checks a set of popular extensions. To find any other extension, use the searchable directory further down the domains page: select an extension there to put it in the search, then search again.
