Schedule maintenance windows
A maintenance window tells UptimeHawk about planned work, such as a server update or a website migration. During the window, the status of the websites and servers it covers shows as Maintenance, and the time is left out of their uptime figures. Reports show uptime both with and without maintenance.
There are two kinds:
- One-time maintenance for a single period, such as a migration next Saturday night.
- Recurring maintenance that repeats every day, on a day of the week (Every Monday) or on a day of the month (Day 1 of each month), such as a weekly backup window.
Add a maintenance window
Section titled “Add a maintenance window”-
Open Maintenance and select Add One-time Maintenance or Add Recurring Maintenance.
-
Set when the window starts under From marker 1 and when it ends under To marker 2. Times are in half-hour steps. For recurring maintenance, choose the day (such as Every Sunday) as well as the time.
-
Under Deactivate monitoring during maintenance marker 3, choose:
- Yes to stop checks and alerts for the window. You will not receive any downtime alerts.
- No to keep checking and alerting as usual. The window is still left out of your uptime figures.
-
Under This maintenance is valid for marker 4, keep ALL websites & servers ticked or tick only the ones affected by the work.
-
Select Save.
Allow a little extra time on either side of the work: a window that ends before the server is fully back produces an outage and an alert.
Change or remove a window
Section titled “Change or remove a window”Maintenance lists your recurring and one-time windows with their times, whether monitoring is deactivated and what they cover. Choose Edit or Remove from a window’s action list and select Go.
Pause monitoring without a schedule
Section titled “Pause monitoring without a schedule”For unplanned work, deactivate the test instead and activate it again when you are done; see Pause, edit or remove a monitor. A deactivated test stays off until you activate it, so remember to turn it back on.
