Managed services questions

Managed AI Services, Storage & Backup Solutions, and DNS & Content Delivery are scoped and quoted per project after a short call, rather than billed by the hour.

Five stages, done remotely wherever your team is: an AI readiness assessment, an AI use policy for your team, secure business AI tools set up for your staff, workflow automation, and ongoing support and training as the tools change. See the Managed AI Services page.

Do we have to buy ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot first?

Section titled “Do we have to buy ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot first?”

No. The team starts with the tools you already pay for and recommends a new licence only when it solves a real problem. Some AI features are already included in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace business plans.

Will AI providers use our data to train their models?

Section titled “Will AI providers use our data to train their models?”

It depends on the account. Free and personal plans may use what you type to improve their models unless you opt out, while business plans from the major providers state that they do not train on your data by default. The team checks each tool’s current terms and sets its retention and sharing options before your team starts.

What happens if an automation makes a mistake?

Section titled “What happens if an automation makes a mistake?”

Every workflow keeps a log of what it did, and anything that sends, pays or deletes waits for a person to approve it. Under ongoing management, failed automations raise an alert so they are fixed early.

Servers, laptops and workstations, and cloud apps such as Microsoft 365, plus storage that grows with your data: a NAS in your office, offsite object storage and long-term archive. See the Storage & Backup page.

Doesn’t Microsoft 365 already back up my data?

Section titled “Doesn’t Microsoft 365 already back up my data?”

Microsoft and Google keep their services running, but deleted items stay recoverable only for a limited time, and a deleted user or a ransomware sync can remove data for good. An independent backup keeps your own copy under your own retention rules.

Backups on the same network with the same passwords often get encrypted too. The team keeps at least one copy offsite and locked for a set number of days, with separate credentials and multi-factor sign-in.

In locations agreed with you during design, with copies kept in Canada when your data needs to stay here.

Three ways: a one-time Backup Health Check of your current setup, Managed Backup run end to end with monitoring and regular test restores, or a Storage Project such as a NAS, object storage or a file server migration.

Is this the same as the backups included with my hosting?

Section titled “Is this the same as the backups included with my hosting?”

No. Web hosting and email hosting are backed up daily as part of the plan; see Back up and restore a website. Storage & Backup Solutions covers your own servers, computers and cloud apps.

What does the DNS & Content Delivery service include?

Section titled “What does the DNS & Content Delivery service include?”

Managed DNS with DNSSEC, a content delivery network with image optimization, edge security such as firewall, DDoS and bot protection, and email authentication with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. See the DNS & Content Delivery page.

No. Your domain can stay with its registrar, and the team points it at the DNS provider it manages. If you like, the team can also bring your domains to Sheernox.

Can you manage the DNS or CDN provider we already use?

Section titled “Can you manage the DNS or CDN provider we already use?”

Yes. After an audit, the team either takes over the provider you already use or recommends a move, with a written plan that explains why.

Will my email or website go down during a DNS move?

Section titled “Will my email or website go down during a DNS move?”

The team lists every record first, lowers TTLs ahead of time, moves in a planned window, then tests web and email straight away. Moves done this way are normally seamless.

Missing or broken SPF, DKIM or DMARC records are the most common cause. The team finds every service that sends as your domain, fixes the records and moves DMARC to enforcement in stages. To check your own records first, see Understand SPF, DKIM and DMARC.

Each engagement is quoted after a short call, based on your systems, data and the work involved. For DNS and content delivery, platform usage is either billed to an account you own or included in the quote. Terms for services that run on another company’s platform are in the Terms of Service. Contact the team to get a quote.
